Communication
At Portland State University I was blessed with an amazing Communication Department. I had the encouragement to explore the power of communication with intention and I found myself at the crossroads of rhetoric, metaphor, and critical theory. I had the opportunity to learn how even our most seemingly mundane technical documents could transform thoughts, laws, and realities.
The following documents are some of the documents that I created that I felt aimed me towards the Masters of Professional and Technical Writing degree that I eventually pursued. These are some of the documents that showed me how impactful technical writing is to equity, progress, and harmony.
A Deeper Understanding of Police Culture
An ethnographic study of policing culture. Spent many hours talking with cops of different ranks, races, genders, and political affiliations. As this was shortly after a few key critical incidents, I really put effort into building respect and open communication pathways between the officers and myself.

Press Releases
Press releases, public information officers, and the technical communicators who prioritize speed and pertinence when getting critical information to those who need it are critical to health and safety. It is for this reason that technical information delivered with accuracy and rhetorical purpose can impact the comfort, faith, and trust in stakeholders. In government agencies and support services, these stakes can be quite high.
